Lillie Mary Adams Johnson

Dr. Lillie Mary Adams Johnson, 66, died Saturday, January 19, 2002, at West Florida Regional Medical Center in Pensacola.
Dr. Johnson was a native of Evergreen. She was a retired social science instructor and had taught in Brewton, Atmore, Merced, Calif., and for the last 16 years, for the Department of the Air Force Dependents Overseas School System at Wagner Middle School at Clark Air Force Republic of the Philippines. She earned her doctorate in educational management and philosophy in 1981 and held a lifetime community college teaching credential in California. She was a member of Greater Mount Triumph Missionary Baptist Church in Atmore.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Deacon W. G. Johnson of Atmore; a daughter, Shannon D. Johnson of Atmore; two granddaughters, Je' Lesal and Genelie, both of Atmore; a grandson, C.J., of Atmore; a sister, Elizabeth Bowens and her husband, Julius; five brothers, Willie G. Adams and his wife, Vernell, of Los Angels, Calif.; Thomas L. Adams and his wife, Ruthie, of Pensacola, Lovia D. Adams and his wife, Gertha, and Kenneth G. Adams and his wife, Sharon, all of Atmore and Leon C. Adams and his wife, Dorenda, of Montgomery; a sister-in-law, Louise G. McCants of Atmore; a second mother, Mrs. Annie B. Thomas of Brewton; special friend, Ms. Yvonne Lindsey of Brewton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and others.
Family hour will be held Friday, January 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the auditorium of Greater Mount Triumph Missionary Baptist Church at 157 Carver Ave. in Atmore.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26 at noon at Greater Mount Triumph Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Alvin L. Durant Sr. officiating.
Burial will be in the family plot at Luscious Cemetery in Atmore.
Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
