Alabama Attorney General Bill Pryor will be the featured speaker at a luncheon sponsored by the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce next month.
Pryor is set to speak at the Lions Community Center on March 7 at noon.
The program, presented by the Chamber, will focus on topics relevant to the Atmore area and state. Following his speech Pryor will take comments from the audience.
Chamber president Alan Bell said he is pleased to have Pryor at the chamber event.
"We think it's great that he's coming," Bell said. "We hope this will give our members and the community some dialogue with our elected officials."
Bell anticipates that Pryor will speak on a variety of subjects, as well as take at least half of his time to answer questions from those in attendance.
"He's gonna come and speak for about 15 to 20 minutes," Bell said. "He's going to then answer 15 to 20 minutes worth of questions."
Bell said that, through the efforts of Nick Smith with Leadership Atmore and Youth Leadership Atmore, Pryor was asked to come and accepted.
"We have YLA and LA who both go to Montgomery once a year as part of their program," Bell said. "Nick (Smith) has made many contacts in many of the state offices. He made a couple of calls, and we asked Pryor to come. He accepted."
Bell said that he suspects the luncheon will last around an hour.
"We're going to eat, hear from Pryor," Bell said. "I think it will last right at an hour or maybe a little longer."
Bell said he hopes this will one of many such luncheons.
"We're going to try and pull in different state and officials and maybe federal ones, too," Bell said. "The chamber hopes to host many more such luncheons this year to give our members and the community an opportunity to speak with elected officials at state and federal levels."
Tickets are available for $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Anyone interested in attending may contact the chamber at 368-3305.
