Cora Lee Murphy

Mrs. Cora Lee Murphy, 90, of Frisco City, died Wednesday, February 20, 2002, in Monroe County Hospital.
She was a seamstress for Vanity Fair Mills for a number of years. She also sewed for the public including uniforms for J. U. Blacksher High School majorettes and cheerleaders. She also owned Murphy's Grocery Store in Uriah. She was a member of Semirah Springs Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie George Murphy.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by a son, James E. Murphy of Montgomery; two daughters, Voncile Peters of Uriah and Rita Ikner of Frisco City; three brothers, Willie Ray Woods of Mobile, Sam Woods Jr. of Camp Hill, Pa., and Garlie Woods of Cantonment; four sisters, Rincy Mae Madison, Genese McCraney, Dovie Nell Stanley and Annie B. Phelps, all of Atmore; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 22 at 2 p.m. at Semirah Springs Freewill Baptist church with the Rev. Tony Downey, the Rev. Earl Harrison and the Rev. Bobby Boatwright officiating.
Burial was at Semirah Springs Cemetery in Uriah.
Monroe Chapel Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
