Mr. Robert Lee "Bob" Ames, 84, died Saturday, February 16, 2002, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich.
He was a native of Atmore and resident of Detroit for over 65 years. He was a graduate of Escambia County Training School and was retired from General Motors.
Mr. Ames was preceded in death by his mother, Parlee Longmire Ames-Crow; his father, Jim Ames; two brothers, John Lee McCarthy and William "D. D." Ames and a sister, Rosie Mae Grimes.
Mr. Ames is survived by his wife, Alice Ames of Detroit; a daughter, Audrey Ames Turner of Anniston; a grandson, Councilman Louie Turner III of Atmore; a granddaughter, Alicia D. Turner of Flint, Mich and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 23 from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at Swanson Funeral Home (Northwest Chapel) in Detroit, Mich.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23 at 10 a.m. at Swanson Funeral Home (Northwest Chapel).
Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit.
