The Escambia County High School Junior Varsity baseball team started their season off with a bang Friday night in Atmore with a 4-4 tie to the W.S. Neal Blue Eagles.
The game was played in very bad conditions the whole game. But not even a constant downpour could dampen the enthusiasm shown by the Blue Devils.
Both the Eagles and Blue Devils did not score again until the fourth inning. The Eagles scored two runs in the top of the inning as they finally to take the lead 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth.
The Blue Devils came right back in bottom of the fourth inning, as they scored two runs of their own to wrestle the lead back 3-2, heading into the last inning.
The Blue Devils then stunned the Eagles as they managed to score a run of their own to tie the game up at 4-4. Due to the rainy conditions the score remained a tie for both teams.
Norris Brooks pitched an excellent game on the mound despite the conditions. He threw all five innings: allowing four runs(two earned), three walks, five hits, and had eight strikeouts.
Trevor Daughtry and Josh Montel lead the Blue Devils in batting. Daughtry went 2/2 with two RBI's and Montel went 2/3 with two runs scored. Micheal Rolin also went 1/3 with an RBI for the Devils.
The J.V.'s next game will be Monday against Bay Minette. The game will be at 5:00. The game will be in Bay Minette.
