Mr. Raymond Carter Jr., 57, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at Providence Hospital in Mobile.
He was a native of Seattle, Wash. and resident of Atmore for many years. He was a six year veteran of the U. S. Navy and attended El Bethel Holiness Church. He had worked for Alabama State Department of Corrections as an officer at Fountain Prison.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Doss-Carter and a brother, Benjamin Carter.
Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Annie M. Lyons-Carter of Atmore; three daughters, Teresa Banks and her husband, Elder Louis Banks, and Annie Lyons, all of Atmore and Helen Pierce and her husband, Ronnie, of Foley; a son, Larry Lyons and his wife, Terika, of Riverdale, Ga.; his father, Raymond Carter Sr. of El Paso, Texas; three sisters, Barbara Baird and her husband, Cecil,of Ceatac, Wash., Vera Ladue and her husband, Jeoff, of Weatherford, Texas and Anita Carter of California; a brother, Tommy Carter of California; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m. at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church with Elder Louis Banks officiating.
Burial was at Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were members of the family and church members.
Turner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
