Mr. Andrew Cary Ellis. Sr., died Saturday April 6, 2002, in a Pensacola hospital.
Mr. Ellis was born in Chumuckla, Santa Rosa County, Florida to Frank M. and Nancy Ellis, a Florida Pioneer family, Mr. Ellis was retired from the U. S. Navy and was a veteran of WW II in the Pacific Theatre, and a member of the DAV of Pensacola. He was a Creek Indian and served for thirty years as a Councilman for the Florida tribe of Eastern Creeks. A fourth generation Bee keeper, he was taught Creek bee keeping from the age of six by his father and for many years talked to elementary school children in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties, Florida and Baldwin and Escambia Counties Alabama, about traditional Creek beekeeping, and bees, and he was a founding member of the EsCoRosa Bee Club.
Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dolores Ellis, and a son, John David Ellis, Sr.
He is survived by four children, Cary Ellis, Jr., of Bogia, Jamie Stewart (Daniel) of Pensacola and Jerusalem, Israel, Keith Ellis of Franklin, Tenn. and Nancy Crispell (Gordon) of Pensacola; a sister, Tillie Crocks,of Pensacola, 15 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
A Christian celebration of Mr. Ellis' life will be held Wednesday April 10 at 3 p.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Enfinger officiating.
Burial will be in the Ray's Chapel Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be Cliff McCauley, Clyde McCauley, Ted McGlothren, Steve McCauley, Randy McCauley and Felix McGlothren. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewey McGlothren, Leon Smith, and Male National Council Members of Muskogee Nation of Florida.
