To the Editor:
Almost 18 months ago, I warned of the mess now being uncovered in Montgomery, yet still millions of dollars are unaccounted for by those that are in charge of the court system. Even the state auditors of public accounts pretend to not have the slightest idea where millions and millions of our taxpayer funds are presently, much less just where it all went. They claim to know nothing of the disappearance of funds from the accounts of the courts. They can't even explain why Judge Moore and Mr. Hobson are refusing to let them see their books and account for the people's money. It is very strange and mysterious that no one who is able to give even the simplest of answers when approached by the press and auditors. There seems to be a Johnnie-no-name that has gone and hid the money: all $122 million of it. Yet no one at the top will be honest with the people. It's sort of like that granite stone up in Montgomery. Nobody knew. Nobody can speak out. And if you do, well the high priest will banish you to the desert for 40 years. Those in charge have decided to mislead and misdirect the people. Maybe they think the people just don't have enough sense to figure it all out for ourselves. Just maybe those at the top think we are all just dumb and don't care about it. We know who has been hiding, dipping and dodging and using the system to carefully hide their bill goat auctions on Goat Hill. Each day we see more and more falsehoods and misleading stuff such as the strange appointments of Good Ole Buddy Deal and setting up phony agencies to divert funds back into someone's pockets and all just within the law. But what should we expect when the highest court officials in the state are misleading and creating falsehoods just in order to fill their personnel agendas or should that be his agenda? The most disgusting part of the whole quagmire is that any person who takes appoints for the sole purpose to pass the dollars right back to the appointer is degrading and shameful to themselves and to remembrance of their names. From Washington to the state house, the mess gets worse and worse, day by day, week by week… The only people that are getting hurt are the citizens of the state. Headlines today: MASSIVE LOSS OF FEDERAL FUNDS FOR STATE'S POOR. Shame, shame on those in charge. Speak up Alabama! It's your right. If you love Alabama, just bear down on those elected and demand answers to your questions.

The Escambia County Humane Society and The Atmore Animal Shelter would like to take this opportunity to thank those who helped with our first annual Mutt Strut Contest at Mayfest. We had twenty-one contestants for our first event, which we thought, was great.
We would like to give a big thanks to all of the owners and their dogs for all the hard work that they put into the costumes and for supporting our event. We would also like to thank our sponsor Atmore Animal Hospital, Pat Dortch's Grooming, Central Farm Supply Susanne Dortch, Atmore Truckers, Elite Sporting Goods, Kim Gant Grooming, Pepsi-Cola, Atmore City Hall and the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce for your support and donation of prizes. We would also like to extend a big thank you to Rodney Owens for a wonderful job he did as our emcee.
Also, a special thanks to Chandra McMurphy, James Helton, Lori Armetti and Nancy Helton for giving us a helping hand with everything. We had a great time sponsoring the Mutt Strut and look forward to the second annual contest next year.
