Rev. Mark Lamar Jr., 55, died Sunday, June 23, 2002, at North Baldwin Infirmary.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Bay Minette where he worked at Standard Furniture for 32 years. He was pastor of Antioch Baptist Church in Tensaw.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mark Lamar Sr.
Rev. Lamar is survived by his wife, Brenda Sue Lamar of Bay Minette; four daughters, Rosalind Denise Leslie of Atmore, Tisha Chiwan Couch, Traci Levette Lamar and Brenda Mary Lamar, all of Bay Minette; a son, Mark Lamar III of Bay Minette; his mother, Bertha Mae McQueen Lamar of Bay Minette; three sisters, Fannie Mae James and Lizzie Mae Andrews, both of Bay Minette and Magnolia Thomas of Mobile; a brother, Joseph Lamar of Bay Minette and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, June 28 from 1 to 8:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel with a family hour from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Gilliard Baptist Church in Summerdale with the Rev. James Agee officiating. The body will lie in state one hour before the funeral service.
Pallbearers will be deacons and friends of the family. Honorary pallbearers will be local ministers.
Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
