Atmore Police Department officials believe a theft ring is to blame for the disappearance of two vehicles from Terry's Used Cars on South Main Street last weekend.
But Steve Durbin, manager of Terry's Used Cars, doesn't care. He just wants his cars back.
Tuesday, he got his wish.
Atmore Police were notified that an 89 Maroon and Silver GMC Extended Cab 3/4 ton pickup truck, stolen from Terry's sometime Friday night or Saturday morning was recovered. However, the truck was missing its engine and transmission.
Durbin is offering a $500 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the theft and burglary.
The APD is investigating the case and treating it both as a burglary, one count, and theft of motor vehicle, two counts.
According to Durbin, a 1989 Buick Riveria is missing and a 1989 Buick Skylark damaged early Friday morning. The GMC truck was discovered missing Saturday.
Durbin said that the burglars attempted to "hotwire" the Skylark. After several unsuccessful attempts, the burglars broke into Terry's garage and broke into the key box where keys to the vehicles were stored.
According to Durbin the burglars waited until the following morning to take the GMC.
Chief Bruce Lovett said that one of the APD's current theories is that a large theft ring took the vehicles.
The APD is continuing the investigation.
