A big thank you to all of the people who helped make a Independence Day celebration possible in our community. Once again, we didn't have to drive out of the area to be a part of a July 4th celebration and fireworks show. Once again we got to see what makes our community great, it's people. Once again, we had the privilege of saluting our veterans. Once again we celebrated the fact that we are Americans.
Just so you know, we could not have had the celebration had it not been for the following people and businesses. Please let them know you appreciate it by doing business with them or just by saying "thanks."
Pepsi Bottlers of Atmore not only gave financially, they sponsored skydivers and provided Pepsi booths and the cannon, which was a great crowd pleaser. Rusty Miller always does a super job. Thanks for the financial help of the Atmore Chamber of Commerce, Atmore Auto Parts, The Atmore Advance, Advance Printing, Atmore First Assembly of God, Atmore Ambulance Service, Swift Supply, Shannon's Florist, K-Mart, Western Auto, Frontier Communications, Diamond Gasoline, Bondurants Hardware, United Bank, The VFW Post of Atmore, Audio Plus, Rabren &Odom and Cleo McCants Timber and Logging.
Thanks to all of the people who participated in the program. From the skydivers to Sheriff Tim Hawsey, The L.A. Pops, the Chamber Ambassadors and Allen Bell, Denean Workman, Jessica Tullis, Carlie Hetrick, Levan Martin and the VFW, The Creek Indian Singers, Eddie Tullis, Doc Sutten, Rusty Miller, David Gehman and the Atmore Radio Controlled Model Club. It was a sampling of great Americana.
The primary sponsor for the second year in a row was the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. Chairman Eddie Tullis and his staff provided $7,000 of the $9,000 bill plus allowed the event to be held on tribal facilities. Additionally Fire Chief Ronnie Jackson and his staff did a great job shooting the fireworks. Eddie Jackson and her staff beautifully decorated the stage and many other tribal employees and members made the celebration a success. I appreciate each one who put forth effort to bless our community with an event that reinforces our patriotism at a time when our country is at war and faces uncertain challenges in the days ahead.
