Stingrays dominate 'Stars and Stripes' tourney

The Atmore YMCA "Stingrays" Swim Team participated in the 25th annual Stars and Stripes Invitational Swim Meet held in Prattville on Saturday, June 22.
Over 300 swimmers representing eleven teams from Alabama and Northwest Florida competed in the day-long event.
Twenty-five swimmers from Atmore traveled to Central Alabama and in spite of a steady rainfall, managed to turn in some very impressive times.
Atmore finished fourth place overall, earning 1,015 and one half points.
In the Senior Age group, Kaylie Castleberry was awarded the High Point Runner-Up trophy, as she earned 86 points.
Individual Awards are as followed:
Eight and under girls: Lauren McCall; eighth place 25 yard freestyle, eighth place 50 yard freestyle.
Boys eight and under: Dustin Parker; ninth place 25 yard backstroke.
Girls 9-10: Allison Spence; tenth place 50 yard backstroke, twelfth place 50 yard freestyle; Laura Wiggins, eighth place 50 yard backstroke.
Boys 9-10: Austin Lowery, fourth place 50 yard butterfly, fifth place 50 yard backstroke, ninth place 50 yard breaststroke, eleventh place 50 yard freestyle; Cody Parker, sixth place 50 yard backstroke.
Girls 11-12: Hillary Rolin, first place 50 yard butterfly, fifth place 100 yard freestyle, seventh place 200 yard individual medley, ninth place 50 yard breaststroke, eleventh place 50 yard freestyle; Khaki McCoy, third place 50 yard freestyle, ninth place 50 yard backstroke.
Boys 11-12: Aaron Sharpless, fourth place 50 yard butterfly, sixth place 100 yard freestyle, sixth place 200 yard individual medley, ninth place 50 yard breaststroke, tenth place 50 yard freestyle; Jake McCall, third place 50 yard backstroke, fifth place 50 yard freestyle, fifth place 100 yard freestyle, eighth place 50 yard breaststroke; T.J. Hadley, sixth place 50 yard backstroke, sixth place 50 yard freestyle, eighth place 100 yard freestyle.
Girls 13-14: Regina Spence, sixth place 100 yard breaststroke, seventh place 200 yard individual medley, seventh place 50 yard freestyle, eighth place 100 yard freestyle, tenth place 100 yard backstroke
