With the month coming closer and closer to an end, the City of Atmore is still anticipating the governor's visit to Atmore.
Mayor Howard Shell says that he is confident the governor will be in the area soon.
Shell said that there is still time and much left to do to prepare for the governor's visit.
Shell said that the city is working on getting areas that they are aware of cleaned up.
Shell said that even though they are targeting some spots, the city still needs the communities help in making sure that areas they are not aware of are clean.
While the Mayor says there is plenty to be done, he extended thanks to those who have stepped up and worked hard for the governor's visit.
One idea the city is urging downtown business to get behind is placing planters in front of area businesses.
These planters, Shell said, can make a drastic change to the look of the downtown area.
Shell urges those with ideas to contact his office at 368-2253 of the Atmore Area Chamber of commerce at 368-3305.
Gov. Don Siegelman has been attending a national governor's convention, and is expected to return today.
