Robert Tedder, a former resident of East Brewton who was convicted on four felony sex charges in 1984, was denied parole by a board.
According to Alabama Board of Pardon and Parole Assistant Director Cynthia Dillard, Tedder was returned to Holman Prison in Atmore on June 17 after a parole board made the decision against him. She said parole boards typically do not release comments regarding the decision to deny a person parole.
The parole board set Tedder's next parole hearing for the maximum amount of time n five years or June 2007. However, she said Tedder couldmake a request to the Board of Pardon and Parole for another hearing after two years.
Tedder is currently serving out a 30- year prison term that began in September 1984. Tedder was found guilty on three counts of enticing and one count of sodomy, first degree. He was tried in Monroe County due to media exposure and was sentenced by Judge Robert E.L. Key.
The latest parole hearing was the third date set for the hearing. It was originally scheduled for Feb. 11 and was changed to April 15. It was rescheduled for the second time due to problems contacting victims and others involved in the case.
Tedder was not present at the parole hearing.
