Concerning the proposed land deal between the state and city of Atmore, Mayor Howard Shell was quoted in the Atmore Advance as saying "releasing details about the sale could hinder its ability to go through". It is interesting how details about the sale of PUBLIC LAND could be a hindrance. What ever happened to an open and honest government? What is there to hide in a State Agency to a Municipality Deal?
The Department of Corrections wants this deal to supplement its budget. Why have a State Legislature who sets a budget for state agencies? Obviously these agencies can sell off the assets of the peoples whenever they see fit! Were is the oversight? We must demand answers and hold all public officials responsible!
