Two area men were arrested last Wednesday when an Escambia County Environmental Inspector and a deputy with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office helped to bust a methamphetamine lab.
Jon Braden Still, 33, of 1516 Still Farm Road in Atmore and Gary Glenn Roley, 32, or 4745 West Highway 4 in Century were both arrested on charges of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Roley received a charge of unlawful possession of marijuana (first), and Still was charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of controlled substances.
Agents with the 21st Drug Task Force, along with the deputy and inspector received information regarding a methamphetamine lab on Curtis Road in Atmore.
Agents set up surveillance on the lab, which was hidden in a wooded area.
At nearly 8:30 p.m., agents witnessed a blue Chevrolet pick-up truck pulling up to the lab.
According to DTF officials, Roley and Still began loading the laboratory onto the back of the truck.
Agents descended quickly and arrested the two men.
Lab chemists from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences came and took custody of the lab, a release prepared by the DTF stated.
The 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force is comprised of the following law enforcement agencies: Escambia County Sheriff's Department, Atmore Police Department, East Brewton Police Department, Brewton Police Department, Flomaton Police Department and the Escambia County District Attorney's Office.
The Task Force receives 75 percent of its funding from a grant funded by the Bureau of Justice Affairs Division of the United States Department of Justice and which is administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs. The remainder of the funding is provided by the Escambia County Sheriff's Department, Atmore Police Department, Brewton Police Department and the Escambia County District Attorney's Office.
