Ryan R. Dasher, 7, of Brewton died when the 1997 Ford Mustang he was a passenger in collided with a 1991 Chevy picked truck.
The Mustang hit the truck from the rear. The child was unrestrained. The air bag was deployed and the force of the bag snapped the child's neck, according to AST officials.
Stephanie Anne McGowin of Brewton, the driver, was not listed with the Alabama State Troopers office as being injured, nor was the driver of the truck, Robert Lee Lambeth of Flomaton.
The accident happened at 2:24 p.m. at the 45.9 mile marker of U.S. Highway 31.
The United Fund provides funding for programs such as: American Red Cross, Atmore Lions Community Center, Escambia County Cooperative Library System, Atmore Pee Wee Football and the Atmore YMCA.
Funds are donated through telephone, door to door campaigns and payroll deduction contributions.
