An 82-year-old Atmore man is still missing as the search continues around the area.
Escambia County Sheriff Tim Hawsey on Friday said there have been no new leads in the case of Alvin Sinquefield, who was reported as missing on Monday night. Family members told Hawsey that Sinquefield may have a mild case of Alzheimer's disease and that he may have wandered off from his home in the 2100 block of Harris Street, just outside the city limits of Atmore.
"We've still not located him," Hawsey said. "We've thoroughly searched the wooded area around his house, using horses, dogs and four-wheelers, but we've not turned up anything new."
Officers did locate a ball cap in Stallworth Cemetery, and family members said the cap was similar to one Sinquefield owned.
"We've also searched his house to try and find any leads, but there is no indication of where he is right now. In our training, we've always been taught to expect the worst and hope for the best, so that is what we're doing right now."
Hawsey added that officers have found no indications of foul play, and that if Sinquefield did leave the area by vehicle it was in someone else's vehicle, as his car is still at his home.
Hawsey said a number of agencies and individuals have aided in the search, including the Atmore Police Department, the Escambia County Search and Rescue Unit, tracking dogs from the state prison and citizens in the neighborhood.
