Funeral services for Alvis Edward Ledkins, 80 and a resident of Bratt, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at 10 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother C.L. Langford officiating. Interment will follow in Godwin Cemeter with full Masonic Honors. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, from 5-7 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Born in Escambia County, Fla., on Nov. 27, 1921 to the late Edward Thedore and Ethel Nichols Ledkins, he was a retired steel worker with L.T.V. He was a Master Mason, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree, and a Shriner. He died on Nov. 17, 2002 in Pensacola.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine DeCorak Ledkins; a son, Wayne Ledkins; four brothers, Britt, Frankie, Cecil and Louis Ledkins; and a sister, Anna Mae Roley.
He is survived by two daughters, Patty Hanchak of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Janet Ledkins Drift and husband, Robert, of Skillman, N.J.; a brother, Ronald Ledkins of Atmore; a sister, Mable Jetter of Bratt; a loving companion and dear friend, Alma Miles of Atmore; and many nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Masons. Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday School Class, Margaret Banks, Thelma Craddock, Leverne Conway, Merrilene Garrett, Mable Hogan, Essie Josey, Marjie Jaye, Viana Johnson, Audrey Kizer, Frances Lovelace, Goldie Morris, Oma Rutherford, Evelyn Sellers, Ethel Strength and Diane Williams.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc., was in charge of arrangements.
Gerald Eugene Pearson
November 16, 2002
Funeral services for Gerald Eugene Pearson, 56, were held on Nov. 18, 2002 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, with Rev. Douglas Dean officiating. Interment followed at Mineola Cemetery.
A native of Minneapolis, Minn., and a former resident of Los Angeles, Calif., he had been a resident of Mineola since 1984. He was an employee of Helena Chemical Company and attended the Baptist Church. He died on Nov. 16, 2002 in a Mobile hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Wood Pearson of Mineola; his mother, Joey E. Pearson of Mesa, Ariz.; a stepson, Frank Wood of Lawrenceville, Ga.; three brothers, Paul F. Pearson of Wilmer, Bruce Pearson of Oakland, Calif., and Alan Pearson of Fresno, Calif.; three sisters, Linda Salem of Los Angeles, Calif., Alice Hardecopf of Leroy, Minn., and Phyllis Silvas of Mesa, Ariz.; three step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Doug Smith, Scottie Smith, Don Smith, Joe Armstrong, Clint Fasser and Jim Jordan.
Eastside Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Cannie Hayles
November 15, 2002
Funeral services for Cannie Hayles, 81, were held on Nov. 18, 2002 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, with Sister Helen Stewart officiating. Interment follow at Bryars-McGill Cemetery.
A native of Eliska, Ala., and a resident of Peridod for the past 40 years, she was a member of the Poarch Creek Indians and atended the Holiness Church. She died on Nov. 15, 2002 at a Mobile hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henson Hayles, and a son, Gary Hayles.
She is survived by four sons, John A. Hayles of Dothan, Joe Hayles of Bay Minette, Jackie Hayles of Livingston, and Larry Hayles of Stockton; four daughters, Estelle Bartley of Perdido, Ruby Sager of Mexia, Sarah Garrett of Bay Minette and Barbara Ann Holman of Perdido; her sister, Birdie Melton of Frisco City; 25 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ricky Sager, Jeff Hayles, Dennis Garrett, Joseph Hayles, Jeremy Hayles and Ronnie Ryland.
Eastside Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mary M. Dean, 93 and a resident of Atmore, died on Nov. 16, 2002 at the Atmore Nursing Home.
Services are to be announced by the Turner Funeral Chapel.

Angela Rollins, 44 and a resident of Atmore, died on Nov. 17, 2002 at Atmore Community Hospital.

Mable (Willie) Rivers
November 17, 2002
Funeral services for Mable (Willie) Rivers, 86 and a resident of Atmore, will be held on Nov. 23, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Gillead Baptist Church.

Ivey Allen
November 14, 2002
Funeral services for Ivey Allen, 70 and a resident of Century, will be held 1 p.m. on Nov. 21, 2002 at Pilgrim Lodge Baptist Church in Century. Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the same date.
