Jefferson Davis Community College President Dr. Susan McBride last week named Kathleen Hall the college's new dean of instruction.
Hall, who has held the position on an interim basis for the past year, will begin her official duties in January.
"Kathleen Hall brings a history of dedicated service in both the classroom and administration along with a proven commitment to student success," Dr. McBride said. "She is well-prepared to provide excellent leadership for teaching and learning at JDCC."
"I am excited to have the opportunity as Dean of Instruction to lead faculty in creating an effective teaching and learning environment – an environment that promotes teaching excellence and educational professionalism as well as student success," Hall said.
"The college provides many opportunities for life long learning, including dual enrollment for high school students, degree transfer, technical, adult education and GED, work force training, and continuing education," she said. "Many exciting opportunities exist for all area citizens; I encourage people to take a class to enhance their personal and professional development."
During her tenure at JDCC, Hall has had a variety of job responsibilities and titles, including business and economics instructor, business and social science division chair, Associate Dean of Academic Education, Associate Director of Atmore Campus and Fountain and Holman Sites, Director of Training for Business and Industry, Director of Special Programs, Adult Education Supervisor, and Director of Instructional Support. As director of Training for Business and Industry (TBI), Hall has promoted the college's programs and courses to local business and industry leaders and developed individualized instruction to meet company needs.
Hall earned a bachelor's degree in special education from Auburn University and a master's degree in business administration from the University of South Alabama. She completed additional graduate courses in business and economics, adult education, vocational education, and professional education.
She and her husband, James, live in Atmore. They have two sons, Johnathan, who is completing graduate studies at Auburn University; and Jeremy, a senior at Huntingdon College.
