Northview High School's Lady Chiefs struggled early but found a rhythm and pulled out a 58-30 win over the visiting W.S. Neal Lady Eagles on Monday night.
The Lady Chiefs battled for a footing in the first quarter, only dropping in 15 points to the Eagles' six, but took over in the second quarter, exploding to a 17-point lead halfway in.
The Lady Eagles took advantage of several costly errors and held on to trail by only 13 at the half. The second half, however, belonged to the Lady Chiefs, who stormed out to a 37-22 lead at the end of the third quarter and held on to punch in a win and improve their record to 1-2.
"I feel good about it," Lady Chief's Head Coach Lorenzo Jones said. "The girls came out and played hard. We had to keep pressure on them. We let up on the pressure and they came back on us a little."
The Lady Eagles, who came into the game with a 1-3 record, couldn't get a game plan together.
"We missed way too many shots around the goal," Lady Eagles Head Coach Dino Thurman said. "We just didn't execute at all."
