Heron Hall

Funeral services for Heron Hall, age 75 and resident of Atmore, were held Thursday Dec. 12, 2002 at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Doug Newton officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Proceeded in death by his parents, Dempsey and Ethel Hall and a sister, Elon Holland, Hall was an electrical contractor for over 50 years and founder of H &H Electric Company. He served in the Korean War as a United State Marine. He was a survivor of the Chosin Reservoir and a member of the Chosin Few. He received a letter of commendation with Combat V.
He coached Little League baseball for 10 years and served on the Board of Directors for years. He was an avid sportsman and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He died at his residence after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Hazel Brown Hall; three daughters, Linda (Terry) Jones and Cathy (Mike) Phillips of Atmore, and Patty (Greg) McKinley of Lottie; five granddaughters, Ashley (Jason) Harper, Wendy (Brandon) Whitehead, Amy Jones (Kevin Sanders), Katrina Phillips, Heather (Jamie) Jones; one grandson, Justin Heron McKinley; two great-grandchildren, Talana Heathcock and Colton Whitehead; two sisters, Ruby Jones of Huntsville and Ruth Holderfield of Birmingham.
Pallbearers were Tim Currie, Scottie Flowers, Dickie Dickerson, Carl Brown, Jr., John Jernigan, and James D. Boiledack. Honorary Pallbearers were Dr. C. William Daniels, Jake Wiggins, Bobby Davis, Giles Chapman, Tom Miniard, Pete Jimenez, Louis Hardy, Johnny Holland, Shanon Lambeth and Ronnie Ross. Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc., was in charge of all arrangements.
William H. Wardell

Graveside services for William H. Wardell, age 67 of Perdido, Ala., were held Wednesday Dec. 11,2002 at Oak Hill Cemetery. Born in New Castle County, Del., on August 10, 1935 to the late John H. and Pauline Smallwood Wardell, he was an accountant with the University of Delaware. He died in Atmore.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Lee Wardell and a daughter, Donna Leigh Wardell. He is survived by one sister, Carolyn Harmon of Perdido, Ala.; three nieces, Susan (Kenny) Smith, Sharon (Brandon) Smith and Stacy (Adam) Griffith; four great-nieces and two great-nephews.
Active Pallbearers were Kenny Smith, A.G. Smith, Bruce Smith, James Smith, and Brandon Smith. Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc., was in charge of all arrangement.

Funeral services for Michael Allen Thomley, 39, were held on Dec. 17, 2002 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, with Rev. Fred Brown officiating. Interment followed at Highland Baptist Cemetery.
A native of Mobile and a former resident of Atmore, he had been a resident of Mary Esther, Fla., for the past six years. He attended the Baptist Church and is preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Carolyn Thomley, and his grandparents, Mike and Mary Bell Thomley. He died on Dec. 12, 2002 in a Pensacola hospital.
He is survived by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hassebrock of Molino, Fla.; two sisters, Pamela (Lathaniel) McGhee of Cantonment and Ashleigh (Michael) Bonsall of Pensacola; two nephews, Logan McGhee of Cantonment and Braden Bonsall of Pensacola; and two nieces, Caroline McGhee of Cantonment and Ashlyn Bonsall of Pensacola.
Pallbearers were Chris King, Ruby Hernandez, Zavier Falgaclo, Lamont Lite, Rick Venno, Ivan Virruet, Teresa Follacchio and Ron Mareirosian.

Willie Mae Harper

Graveside services for Willie Mae Harper, 93 and a resident of Atmore, were held on Dec. 15, 2002 at New Home Cemetery in Poarch, with Captain Davis Sams officiating.
Born in Huxford on April 15, 1909 to the late W.M. and Arthurine Colbert Hinson, she was retired from a printing shop. She died on Dec. 12, 2002 in Atmore.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Gardner. She is survived by a sister, Vivian Taylor Atmore; a daughter-in-law, Sallie N. Gardner of Mobile; seven grandchildren, Bobby Gardner of Atmore, Wesley Gardner, Richard G. Gardner, David G. Gardner, Ralph Gardner, Cindy Mount and George Gardner, all of Mobile; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.

Allie Cox Rigby

Funeral services for Allie Cox Rigby, 90, were held on Dec. 16, 2002 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, with Dr. Gene Verner officiating. Interment followed at Godwin Cemetery.
A native of Bratt and a former resident of Pensacola, she had been a resident of Bay Minette for five years. She had been a site manager for the Council on Aged in Bratt and Pensacola, and she attended the First Assembly of God Church in Pensacola. She died on Dec. 12, 2002 in Bay Minette.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sylvia C. and James Watford of Bay Minette and JoAnne B. and Joe Nall of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; two brothers, Hollis Rigby of Tampa and Rev. Cary L. Rigby of Northport, Ala.; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Steven Malden, Jonathan Little, Randy Rigby, Hewell Rigby, James Malden and Scott Nall.

Maston M. Mims, Sr.

Funeral services for Maston M. Mims, Sr. were held on Dec. 17, 2002 at the Poplar Springs Baptist Church, with Rev. Mike Grindle and Rev. Rhett Ellis officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
A native of Monroe County and a life-long resident of Uriah, he attended J.U. Blacksher High School in Uriah and was a farmer, businessman, church leader, civic leader and former member of the Alabama Legislature, having served in the Alabama House of Representatives and the Alabama Senate.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff C. and Carrye Mims of Uriah, Jeff Carter Mims of Mobile and Joe Frank Mims of Uriah.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jorette Mims of Uriah; three sons, Joe Frank Mims II and Maston M. Mims, Jr., both of Uriah, and Tom Riley Mims of Seminole; three brothers, David D. Mims II of Monroeville, Lambert C. Mims of Mobile and Bibb G. Mims of Uriah; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Born on April 19, 1926 in McDavid to the late Henry Harvey and Annie Graden Hanks Ashcraft, she was a homemaker. She died on Dec. 16, 2002 in Pensacola.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Barth of Pensacola; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia A. and William L. Phillips of Tyron, Ga.; a brother and sister-in-law, Henry H. and Maggie Ashcraft of Bratt; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Laurie and Jason Byars of Tyrone, Ga.; and two great-grandchildren, Mckenzie and Cameron Byars, both of Tyrone, Ga.

Funeral services for Cecil Wilson Boothe, 83, were held on Dec. 17, 2002 at the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenneth Johnson officiating. Interment followed at Mexia Cemetery in Mexia, Ala.
A long-time resident of Monroe County, he was a farmer who spend his last years in McCullough. He died on Dec. 15, 2002 at his residence.
He is survived by his second wife, Nell Boothe of McCullough; five sons and their wives, Thomas C. Boothe of Oklahoma City, Okla., Richard W. and Paulette Boothe of Roanoke, Va., David P. and Yvonne Boothe of Anniston, and Dan and Beth Boothe and Jack S. and Susan Boothe, all of Excel; a stepdaughter, Sandra Hayles and friend Ramone of Winder, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
