Clifton Brazzell

Funeral services for Clifton Brazzell, 83, will be held on Dec. 23, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, with Dr. A.L. Durant officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be held today, Dec. 22, 2002, from 1-8:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel. The body will lie in state one hour in the church prior to services.
A native of Atmore, he resided here for many years. He attended school in Escambia County and was a retired engineer. He died on Dec. 17, 2002 at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Brazzell; two sons, Raymond Brazzell and Glenn Archie; three sisters, Daisy Goode, Annie Cheeseborough and Jessie Mae Carthera; and three brothers, Grady Boyd, A.C. Howard and Onzie Brazzell.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary C. Brazzell-Manning of Atmore and Mattie Gwynette Lovey of Freeport, Bahamas; a son, Clifton Archie of Union Springs; a brother, L.C. (Annie Pearl) Brazzell of Atmore; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were friends and family.
Turner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Debra Sue Brooks

Funeral services for Debra Sue Brooks, 39, were held on Dec. 21, 2002 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, with Sister Helen Stewart and Brother Steve Risensun officiating. Interment followed at Perdido Baptist Cemetery.
A native of Bay Minette and a former resident of Robertsdale, she had been a resident of Atmore for the past year. She died on Dec. 18, 2002 in Atmore.
She is survived by her mother, Lillie Brooks of Atmore; two sons, Douglas Jason Brooks and Hunter Thomas Clark, both of Atmore; her daughter, Haley Rose Clark of Atmore; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene Elton and Tracy Brooks and family of Rabun, Michael Ray and Patricia Brooks of Mobile and Danny Earl and Kathy Brooks and family of Bay Minette; her grandmother, Bessie Mae Rolin; and her aunt, Lorene Tolin of Atmore.
Pallbearers were Jeremy McGhee, Kenny Williams, Justin Norman, Scott Griffin, Travis Daughtry and Nick Hill.
Eastside Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Annie Pearl Mitchell

Funeral services for Annie Pearl Mitchell, 83, were held on Dec. 21, 2002 at Right Spirit Ministries in Spanish Fort, with Bishop Dupree Cook officiating. Interment followed at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Daphne.
A native of Andalusia, she attended school in Covington County and was a resident of Daphne for many years. She was a retired restaurant cook and a member of Right Spirit Ministries in Spanish Ford. She died on Dec. 17, 2002 at Beverly Health Care – Eastern Shore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joans Mitchell, and a daughter, Maggie Miles. She is survived by a son, Ernest Mitchell of Daphne; four daughters, Ethel Williams, Essie Jemison and Adaline Jones, all of Daphne, and Teria (Darryl) Dillard of Detroit, Mich.; 25 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were friends and family.

Iree Flavors

Funeral services for Iree Flavors, 86, were held on Dec. 21, 2002 at Jones Street Holiness Church, with Bishop Willie L. Williams officiating. Interment followed at Stallworth Cemetery.
A native of Atmore, she lived here for many years. She wa a homemaker and attended school in Escambia County. She died on Dec. 16, 2002 at Tandam Healthcare in Pensacola.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie B. Flavors. She is survived by four daughters, Dorothy (Leroy) Beasley of Pensacola, Mary (Calvin) Jackson of Dayton, Ohio, Carolyn (Willie) DeShields of Riverdale, Ga., and Eva (Ennis) Hightower of Bay Shore, N.Y.; two sons, Gene Flavors and Cary (Shirely) Flavors, Sr., both of Atmore; 30 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.

Jannie Milstead

Funeral services for Jannie Milstead, 64, were held on Dec. 20, 2002 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, with Rev. William Chancery and Rev. Travis Hutchinson officiating. Interment followed at Oak Grove Cemetery.
A native of Excel and a resident of McDavid for the past 45 years, she was a member of the Homemaker's Club and attended the Grace Baptist Church. She died on Dec. 17, 2002 at a Pensacola hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Milstead, Sr.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dudley and Rachel Milstead, Jr., of Castleberry, and Ricky and Sherry Milstead of Bratt; three brothers, Willie "Buddy" Blackwell of McDavid, Donnie Johnson of Bluff Springs and J.T. Johnson of Bluff Springs; three sisters, Betty Johnson of Bluff Springs, Doris Adams of McDavid and Faye Merchant of Bluff Springs; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; her aunt, Inez Chancery of McDavid; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Kenny Peterson, Joe Brooks, David Moore, Gary Welch, Billy Joe Merchant and Timothy Adams. Honorary pallbearer was L.D. Gunn.

Willie Fred Thams

Funeral services for Willie Fred Thames, 54, were held on Dec. 21, 2002 at Mt. Gillead Baptist Church.
A resident of Detroit, Mich., and a native of the Freemanville community, he died on Dec. 17, 2002.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Robinson Funeral Home.
Winford Allen Johnson

Funeral services for Winford Allen Johnson, 67, were held on Dec. 21, 2002 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, with Brother Raymond Wiggins and Brother Tommy Lee Johnson officiating. Interment followed at McCurdy Cemetery.
A native of Jay and a resident of Century for the past 48 years, he was an employee of Campbell Sand and Gravel Company for most of his life. He attended the Happy Valley Church. He died on Dec. 18, 2002 in a Pensacola hospital.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Wendy Land. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Johnson of Century; four sons, Dewayne Johnson and wife Dianne of Century, Allen Johnson and his wife Wanda of Century, Ray Johnson and his wife Paula of Jay and Tommy Lee Johnson and his wife Angela of Brewton; a brother, Wayne Johnson of Jacksonville; three sisters, Winnie Rice of Century, Willo Dean Crary of Century and Wilhelmina Simmons of Jay; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Shawn Johnson, Derek Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Dusty Johnson, Justin Johnson and Chad Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were James Campbell, Billy Campbell, Bud Campbell, Charlie Brown and Melvin Johnson.

Ben Bernie Ferguson

Funeral services for Ben Bernie Ferguson, 67, were held on Dec. 19, 2002 at William Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jack Fitts, Rev. John Finklea and Rev. Eric Ferguson officiating..
A native of Darrow, La., he had lived in Brewton for the past 28 years. He was retired from Exxon Corporation with 36 years service, and was also employed with the Escambia County, Ala., School System. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brewton, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the AEA. He died on Dec. 17, 2002 at a Pensacola hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Ann Wood Ferguson of Brewton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Abbey Ferguson of Savannah, Ga., and Kyle and Sara Ferguson of Satsuma; a daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Fed Moore of Atmore; a sister, Betty Steckler of Metairie, La.; and six grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
