The First National Bank of Atmore recently earned its 55th consecutive 5-star Superior rating from BauerFinancial's bankstar.com online evaluation listing. BauerFinancial is an independent bank research firm that assigns star ratings from zero-to-five, with five stars being the strongest, based on comprehensive formulas that evaluate a bank's financial strength and lists them online. The service lists star ratings on every United States bank with links to those who have websites at no charge tot he public.
The Beaumont Foundation of America launched the first round of applications for its Alabama program to provide access to information for everyone, everywhere, anytime on Tuesday with Lt. Governor-elect Lucy Baxley. The Beaumont Foundation of America will be granting $1,987,200 worth of computers to Alabama schools, community organizations, and individuals over the next year.
The Alabama Department of Revenue will hold a free "Going into Business" workshop at either 3 p.m. or 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the University of South Alabama, University Student Recreation Center, in Mobile. Participants will be given step-by-step instructions on completing necessary tax forms and useful handouts on business tax information. For more information, call (251) 344-4737.
