Annice Tyree-Barnhill, area director of the Mid-South Division of the American Cancer Society, will be the keynote speaker Thursday at the Annual Relay for Life Kickoff Luncheon.
This year's event, which is being catered by David's Catfish House, will start at 12 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. All proceeds will benefit the Atmore Relay for Life event, scheduled to be held on May 16-17 in Tom Byrne Park.
Relay for Life has been extremely successful in the Atmore area, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars each year for cancer research, education and advocacy.
There are still some slots for teams to be formed, and any business, organization or group is encouraged to form a team and begin raising money for the program.
Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door from any American Cancer Society Committee member for $7.
For more information on Thursday's luncheon, contact Myrna Monroe at 368-4938 or by e-mail at myrna@atmore.net.
