Sunday afternoon, the Greater Escambia Council for the Arts held tryouts for their spring musical, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Several talented teenagers and young adults from the Atmore and Walnut Hill area auditioned for the parts. "They were all good," said GECA president Phil Johnson. "Any of those who tried out could have done just about any part."
Jody Nezovich, a 2002 Northview graduate and current PJC student, was cast in the title role. Other characters include Meagan Adams as Lucy, Terri Bumann as Snoopy, Kate Sherrill as Marcy, Kelli Flannigan as Violet, Dusty Mason as Linus, and Haley Pearson as Sally.
"It will be a lot of fun. I'm excited," said Adams, who is directing the production.
GECA is also sponsoring an art contest for area school children in conjunction with the show. More details regarding the contest will be released at a later date. The production is set for late February. The cast will also be "taking the show on the road" as they perform for children in several area schools.
