EA takes 3 of 4 from Evangel

Friday night all four Escambia Academy teams faced Evangel Christian at home. The Cougars came away with wins from three of their teams, as well as a chance to host the AISA Area Tournament.
The JV girls began the evening with a win, 35-7. Courtney Smith led the scoring with ten points. Lori Bonds and Alison Thomas each scored six points, Morgan Dorriety scored five points, and Jaime Drew, Ellen Corman, Holly Harrison, and Katie Smith each scored two points.
The junior varsity boys were defeated Friday night. Stats for the game were unavailable at press time.
The Escambia Lady Cougars defeated Evangel in a 85-16 blowout. Kaylie Castleberry had a season high 19 points in the game, as well as 15 rebounds. Jessica Gibbs scored 18 points and had ten rebounds, Rayleen Miller scored 13 points and had ten rebounds, Meagan Jackson scored ten points and had five rebounds, Mandy Norton scored eight points and had four rebounds, Morgan Dorriety scored six points and had six rebounds, Anna Parish scored six points and had two rebounds, and Shelby Hester scored five points and had two rebounds.
The Cougars defeated Evangel Friday night to insure that the AISA Area Tournament will be held at Escambia Academy. Leading the scoring in the game was Robert Hardy with 13 points and 10 rebounds. David Daniel followed with 12 points and four rebounds, Jace Beasley scored 11 points and had eight rebounds, Bradford Price had nine points and four rebounds, Cody White scored seven points and had three rebounds, Chris Moore scored six points and had four rebounds, Cole Norton scored five points and had two rebounds, and Zach Smith scored two points and had one rebound.
The Lady Cougars now stand at 18-3 on the season (second in the state) and the Cougars are also at 18-3, ranked fourth in the state.
Escambia Academy will play at home Thursday against Jackson and Feb. 1 at home against Dixie Academy.
