The Greater Escambia Council for the Arts will be sponsoring an art contest for local students in conjunction with its winter production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." Entries should be related to the Peanuts comic strip.
Winners will be awarded in three divisions: high school (9-12); middle school (6-8); and elementary (K-5). The winner in each division will have his or her drawing featured on the program cover for one of the three presentations of the show. Ribbons will also be awarded. All entries will be on display at the Atmore Lions Community Center during each presentation of You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown.
Entries should be 8-1/2 by 11 inches and mounted on poster board. Only entries related to the Peanuts theme will be accepted. To be considered for a program cover, entries must be drawings or painting, pen and ink, crayons, markers, etc., suitable for copying. The student's name, grade, school and home phone number must be printed on the back of the entry. Only two entries per student please.
Entries are due to teachers by Feb. 7 and will be picked up by a GECA representative. Home-schooled students may enter by contacting Anne Sherrill at 327-4250.
