MONTGOMERY – Escambia Academy's boys basketball team rolled past Pickens Academy Thursday night at Huntingdon College, with the 44-35 win propelling the Cougars into the AISA Class 2A State Championship Game.
The Cougars will face the winner of the Evangel Christian-Sumter Academy game in the championship game Friday night at 7:30 p.m. That contest will be played at Huntingdon College as well. It is believed to be the first time EA will battle for a state crown in a number of years on the boys side.
The Cougars broke open a tight game with a big third quarter, following the lead of Robert Hardy to basically put the game away. Hardy finished the night with 10 points and nine rebounds while Jace Beasley added nine points and nine rebounds and Bradford Price contributed eight points and pulled down four boards.
