Native son Fayard promoted to Executive V.P. with Coca-Cola

ATLANTA – The Board of Directors of The Coca-Cola Company announced on Thursday that Atmore native Gary Fayard has been elected as executive vice president, along with Jose Octavio Reyes. Also elected during the meeting were Clye Tuggle and Sandy Douglas as senior vice presidents and Steve Vonderhaar as a vice president of the company.
Fayard, chief financial officer, will report to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Doug Daft and will serve on the Company's executive committee.
Fayard is the son of Sarah Fayard and the late Elam P. Fayard of Atmore and is married to Nancy Shell, the daughter of Howard and Nanette Shell. They have two sons, John and Chris.
He joined The Coca-Cola Company in 1994 as vice president and controller. In 1999, he was named senior vice president and chief financial officer of the company.
Before joining Coca-Cola, Fayard served 19 years with Ernst and Young, concluding his service there as a partner, area director of audit services and area director of manufacutring services. He currently serves as on the Board of Directors of Coca-Cola Enterprises, Coca-Cola SABCO and Panamco.
He also serves on the Board of the Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts, the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council, the University of Alabama Board of Visitors and the Financial Executive Institute. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and is participating in the American Assembly at Columbia University on the future of the accounting profession.
