Events for Atmore's Relay for Life kick off Saturday with a full slate of activities to raise money in the battle against cancer.
The highlight of Saturday's activities will be a Yard Sale for all Relay teams interested in participating. The event will be held from 6 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Tom Byrne Park. Each team will be allowed to display items for sale, with all proceeds benefiting their respective teams.
A number of good bargains are going to be available, and yard sale ethusiasts are encouraged to come take advantage of the one-stop shopping feature. In addition, sausage biscuits, Pepsi products and coffee will be available for sale.
Any donated items for the sale can be dropped off at The Atmore Advance offices between now and Friday.
Also on Saturday, Masland Carpets will be sponsoring a Relay for Life Volleyball Tournament starting at 10 a.m. in the gymnasium at Escambia County High School. The double elimination tournament is open to co-ed teams of five players or less. Entry fee is $50 per team, and plaques will be awarded for first and second place.

At the site, there are 69 stalls available with 60 paddocks and 65 campsites with hook ups. Reservations are necessary for those facilities.
Riders will ride on a well marked, 8-10 mile trail through the thick pine forest of Blackwater State Park, then enjoy a hot, well prepared meal. Relay for Life t-shirts will be given to all riders brining $25 in donations on the day of the ride.
Rider entry fee is $10 per rider, and meal fee is $5 per person. A campsite reservation is $13 per night while a stall is $5 a night and a paddock is $3 a night. A day use fee of $2 per horse is also required.
