Escambia County Middle School Principal Herbert Payne, Atmore Tree Committee members Judy Pylate, Gertha Adams, Juanita Smith, and Eugenia Wilson, along with Alabama Forestry County Manager Randy Cannon and Atmore Mayor Howard Shell all gathered in front of ECMS on Feb. 25 to plant a Lyland Cyprus tree as a symbol of the proclamation signed by Shell recognizing Feb. 22-28, 2003 as Arbor Week in Atmore.
