In an attempt to find a woman missing from the Poarch community, the Escambia County Sheriff's Department will be conducting a thorough search of the entire area on Saturday.
Melinda Wall McGhee – described as a 31-year-old female weighing 130 pounds and 5-foot-4 with brown hair and brown eyes – has been missing since March 24. Investigators with the Sheriff's Department and the Alabama Bureau of Investigation have been investigating the case, with officials saying no new developments have taken place.
It was reported on television stations that blood was found at the scene, but the blood had not been identified as McGhee's.
McGhee was reported missing from her home on Kent Road late in the afternoon of March 24. Investigators were called to the scene and have been investigating the case ever since, including posting fliers asking for information on McGhee's whereabouts, since that date.
Sheriff Grover W. Smith said the search will be held on Saturday, and anyone wishing to participate in the search is asked to meet at the parking lot between the Sail Center and Gymnasium off Lynn McGhee Drive in Poarch at 8:30 a.m.
"Participants will be searching thoroughly in coordinated zones in an effort to find Melinda," he said. "We hope to have a successful turnout in which we can cover all areas that we want to search."
Volunteers will be assisting with cars, trucks and horses. No four-wheelers will be used.
