The following short profiles on military personnel who have local connections and are on active duty are provided here to remind readers of the local people serving our country in time of war.

Dareyun Boykin
Atmore
Specialist Dareyun Boykin was stationed in Fort Polk, La., when his entire unit was recently deployed to Iraq. He currently holds the rank of E-4.
He is the son of Margaret Henderson and the grandson of Annie Salter. His sisters are Latashia Salter and Zesha James, and he is the nephew of Ellen Salter, Annie Williams Lillian Millenders and James Salter.
Boykin is currently serving at an undisclosed location, and information on contacting him or sending letters and cards to him is unavailable.
Douglas McArthur Kelley
Atmore
PVZ Douglas McArthur Kelley was born in Baton Rouge but is a long-time resident of Atmore and is a resident of the Poarch Creek community along with his father Douglas E. Kelley.
He graduated 14th in his class of 2000. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 14, 1999 and is currently stationed in Iraq serving as a private in the U.S. Army Engineer Branch.
GaMarlowe Q. Cooper
Atmore
Cpl. GaMarlowe Q. Cooper is the son of George Cooper of Uriah and Cynthia Kaye Cooper of Atmore. He is married to Latoya F. Cooper of Excel, Ala. and has a son named Xavier Jamal Leslie. His grandparents are Leo Bright of Franklin, Ala., the late Ollie M. Barnes of Atmore, and the late Fred and Margaret Rea Cooper of Uriah. He is currently a corporal in the United States Marines and is stationed in Kuwait.
