Ethel E. Marshall, 88, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare Eastern Shore Nursing Home in Fairhope.
She was a native of Canoe and a resident of Atmore since 1947. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ima Ballard Etheridge and William E. Etheridge; her husband, John Lee Marshall; a daughter, Helen Bailey; a grandson, Phillip Marshall; three sisters, Voncile Etheridge, Rosa White and Alvie Morris; and two brothers, William E. (Ed) Etheridge and Horace Etheridge.
Funeral services were held at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in Atmore at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2003. Visitation was from noon until 2 p.m. prior to the funeral with the Brother Mike Grindel officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
She was a member of Brooks Memorial Baptist Church in Atmore and a member of Clayton Chapter 306, Order of the Eastern Star.
The family wishes to thank her special friend and next door neighbor, Mrs. Ruby Wiggins for her years of attentive helpfulness. Thank you also to Sarah Beck and her staff at the Meadows Assisted Living Facility in Atmore for their attentiveness during her residence there three years ago. Many thanks also to all the staff members of Beverly Healthcare in Fairhope for treating her with such care and with thoughtfulness for her dignity.
Survivors include: her son, John L. Marshall (Jenette) of Cantonment, Fla.; her daughter, Patsy B. Peacock (Edward) of Fairhope; eight grandchildren, Steve Peacock (Tina), Jill Hughes (Bryan), Becky Sterndorf (Dave), Ramona Steele (Mark), Regina Burt (Eddie), Polly Bailey, Wally Bailey, Adam Bailey (Dawn); 10 great-grandchildren, Josh Burt, Jared Steele, Jessica Steele, Alec Hughes, Austin Hughes, Sabrina Peacock, Blaine Peacock, Ryan Peacock, Julie Sterndorf, Hannah Sterndorf; her sister, Margie Griffith; and two brothers, Hibbert Etheridge (Celia) and Buddy Etheridge (Lou).
