Three Escambia County men were arrested and are facing drug-related charges after the 21st Judicial Drug Task Force set up a surveillance sting on Friday.
According to Task Force Commander Keith Hutchins, task force officials set up surveillance at three locations where they had received complaints from residents. He also said all three arrests involved possession of crack cocaine.
Those arrested included: Gregory Eugene Haag, 30, of 1028 Forest Ave., East Brewton, who was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of controlled substances, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest; Courtney Long, 22, of 1204 Forest Ave., East Brewton, was charged with unlawful possession of controlled substances, unlawful possession of marijuana, first degree and resisting arrests; and Ashlion McCants, 25, 1566 Ridge Road, Brewton, was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of controlled substances, two counts of unlawful possession of marijuana, first degree, and resisting arrest.
According to Hutchins, Haag was arrested at Old Fort Crawford Park in East Brewton. Long was arrested on East Jackson Street and May Street in Brewton while McCants was arrested and charged at the intersection of Ridge Road and Springhill Drive near East Brewton.
The task force received assistance from the Brewton Police Department and the East Brewton Police Department during the surveillance.
The 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force is comprised of the following law enforcement agencies: The Escambia County Sheriff's Office, Atmore Police Department, East Brewton Police Department, Brewton Police Department, Flomaton Police Department, Escambia County District Attorney's Office and the Escambia County Commission.
The task force receives 75 percent of its funding from a grant provided by the Bureau of Justice Affairs Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and is administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs. The remainder of the funding is provided by the Escambia County Sheriff's Department, Atmore Police Department, Brewton Police Department and the Escambia County District Attorney's Office.
