The Atmore 13-year-old all-stars defeated South Monroe in the first game Tuesday night before being put out of the playoffs by Brewton.
Atmore took an early lead over South Monroe with a four run first inning off four errors and a walk. Each team scored once in the second inning to make the score 5-1, Atmore. South Monroe was able to score three runs in the third off two hits and two walks while Atmore scored one run. Atmore was scoreless in the fourth inning and Monroe scored one run to bring the score to 6-5, Atmore. No one scored in the fifth inning. In the sixth inning South Monroe scored one more run on a triple, but it was not enough to top the Atmore team who scored one more run to make the final score 7-6, Atmore.
Hunter Milligan pitched four innings, allowing five walks and striking out four. Travis Vickery pitched the remainder of the game, walking none and striking out four. Ben Hess lead the team offensively, going two for four with two runs scored.
Atmore was topped by Brewton 8-5 in the second game. Brewton jumped ahead early in the game by scoring two runs in both the second and third innings. Atmore scored one run in the third. In the fourth inning each team scored one run to make the score 5-2, Brewton. Atmore scored two runs in the fifth inning to shrink the gap, but was quickly answered by Brewton's two runs in the sixth. Atmore scored once more in the game, but could not pull out the victory as Brewton scored once more to make the final 8-5.
Milligan, Vickery, and Lawrence Thomas pitched in the loss. Milligan was also the offensive leader with two hits and a run scored on four at bats.
