Claiborne Dukes, Sr.

Mr. Claiborne Dukes, Sr., 91, of Freemanville, died Sunday. He was born in Purdue Hill to the late George and Mary Francie Dukes. He was a longtime member of Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by all his brothers and sisters.
Mr. Dukes is survived by his sons, Claiborne Dukes, Jr. of Sacramento, Calif., Willie Lee Dukes and wife Barbara and George Kenneth Dukes and wife Jaqueline, both of Atmore; a daughter Essie Pearl Bell and husband Bonnie of Bossier City, La.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, one devoted, Ola Mae Boykins Williamson and husband Tamp; one brother-in-law; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Alfonzia Williams, Sr. officiating. Burial followed at Stallworth Cemetery. Pallbearers were Benny Bell, Randy Johnson, JaShaun Johnson, Courtney Johnson, Ernest Williams, and Gary Barnes. Honorary pallbearers were Kendrell Dukes and Todric Dale.
Robinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
