Mr. W. T. Newton, 86, of Century, died Saturday in Jay Hospital. He was a native of Flomaton and a resident of Century for many years. He was a member of Greater Union Baptist Church in Century and an industry laborer. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Ellen Newton; a son, Sgt. Kenneth Newton; and a sister, Joyce Bell Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis C. Newton of Century; four sons, Willard Newton of Flomaton, Jimmy Newton of Century, Cecil Newton of Queens, N.Y., and Roy Newton of Pensacola; one daughter, Dorothy E. Newton of Century, a sister, Andrania Bonner of Pensacola; and one brother, Johnnie R. Newton of Pensacola.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Greater Union Baptist Church in Century with Pastor Gerald Dortch, Pastor Henderson Powell and Pastor Kenneth Jessie officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Jordan Cemetery in Flomaton. Visitation will be from 1 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Ms. Sharon Denise Mitchell, 32, of Pensacola, died Sunday at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Deliverance Ministry of Jesus Christ in Atmore with Rev. Bernard Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Viewing will be 1 to 8:30 p.m. with family hour 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charles Marshall McElhaney

Mr. Charles Marshall McElhaney, 72, of Atmore, died Sunday in a local hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Susie McElhaney; one brother, Andrew Lee McElhaney; and one sister, Lori Stepanski.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan R. Carpenter and husband Raymond of Walnut Hill; Debra Willis and husband Billy of Bratt; five grandchildren, Mandy Hall, Chad Willis, Jeremy Carpenter, Kimberly and Joseph Westbrook; four great-grandchildren, Dillon Hall, Cassidy Boutwell, Beka Carpenter and Cayla Carpenter; and one sister, Lucille Arnette and husband Luther of Gonzales, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Pine Level Primitive Baptist Church with Bro. Joe Digmon and Bro. Kevin Fralick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
