Pellar Binford McKinley

Pellar Binford McKinley, 80, died Monday. A lifelong resident of Atmore, he was a veteran of WWII. He was a banker at First National Bank of Atmore for 41 years.
He was born in Baldwin County on March 30, 1923, to the late David Nettles and Theresa Lowrey McKinley. He was dedicated in his service to his church, Canoe United Methodist.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Thelma Jalis and Kathleen Mosley, and one brother Hollis McKinley.
He is survived by his niece and caregiver, Ronda Wood and husband, Owen, of Atmore; nephews Ernie Wood of Stapleton; David Vance Wood, of Daphne; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from Johnson Quimby Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Purser and Rev. Bill Watts officiating. Burial will follow in Canoe United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ernie Wood, Michael Wood, Dennis Stanton, Tommy Young, Butch Black and David Amos. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Jalis, Madison Black, Hermon Black, Bill Black, Sewell Stanton, Kelby Amos and Herbert Guy. The family will receive from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canoe United Methodist Church Cemetery fund.

Joseph Dahmer McCaskey

Joseph Dahmer 'Joe' McCaskey, 59, of Uriah died Sunday. He was a native of Mobile, he was a resident of Uriah for 20 years. He was a member of the Little River Baptist Church, a Vietnam veteran and retired from International Paper Co. He is survived by a brother, James McCaskey of Little River, and a sister Mary Angelia Hembree of Denim Springs, La.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Little River Baptist Church with Rev. Douglas Dean officiating. Burial followed in the Little River Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Rusty Hembree, Freddie Kilpatrick, Leon Cumbie, Peanut Ferguson, George Naman, Jimmy Watson and O'neal Smith.

James Oliver Godwin

James Oliver Godwin, 98, died Saturday. A native of Oak Grove, he was a graduate of J.M. Tate High School and retired from the Naval Air Rework Facility in Pensacola.
He is survived by his wife Jewell Grace Sharpless, a daughter, Gwendolyn Godwin-Mann; a son, James Craig; grandchildren Kimberly and husband Dr. Lars Isanberg; Kamala Mote and husband Randy; K. Amber and husband Rodger Hill; Gwen and husband William Ramsey; James Tyler Godwin and Van Henry. Also survived by a brother, Herman E. Godwin, eight great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. at the Oak Grove Baptist Church on Highway 99. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Julian Godwin, Roy 'Buddy' Godwin, Don Godwin, William Ramsey, Melvin Wartenbe and W.J. McElwain.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, Council on Aging or Alzheimer's Family Services.

Eugene Gresham

Eugene Gresham, 67, of Flomaton died Friday. A native of Flomaton, he had lived in Milton for many years before returning to Flomaton last year. He was a Baptist by faith and was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Ray Gresham and Donald Payne Gresham.
He is survived by son Eugene Franklin Gresham Jr. of Carencro, La.; four daughters, Tina Spell of Flomaton; Diana Martin of Flomaton; Melanie Hebert of Lafayette, La., and Christine Gresham of Carencro.Also survived by four brothers, Carlton 'C.B.' Gresham of Flomaton; William Gresham of Flomaton; Donald Gresham of Flomaton; Ronald Wayne Gresham of Picayune, La., and Hughey Gresham of Dallas; five sisters, M.L. 'Sis' Portwood of Flomaton; Marie Peebles of Flomaton; Carol Smith of Century; Rosa Lee Lambeth of Flomaton and Frances Warren of Kerrens, Texas; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Keese officiating. Burial followed at Traveler's Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dewayne Gresham, James Paul Parramore, Brian Peebles, Tommy Rex Fore, Tony Fore and Tony Gresham. Honorary pallbearers were Alfread White, Richard Byrd, O'Dell Fou, Jimmy Kornegay and Leon Johnson.

Flora Allene Morgan

Flora Allene Morgan, 88, of Atmore died Thursday. A native of McCullough, she was born there on Aug. 11, 1915 to the late Dan and Martha Nowling Dewrell. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert David Morgan, and a son, Bobby Joe Morgan.
She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Lassitter and husband Milford of Atmore; a brother, George Dewrell of Mobile; two sisters, Eunavey Grant of Pensacola and Cora Driskell of Bay Minette; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-granchildren.
Services were held Sunday from the Johnson Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Davis, Rev. Glynn Lowrey and Rev. Leon Stewart officiating. Burial followed in the McCullough Cemetery. Johnson Quimby was in charge of arrangements.
