Gloria Lee Padgett Matheny, 63, died Thursday in a Louisiana hospital.
A native of Reese Station Ohio, she had been a resident of Atmore for the past 24 years. She was an employee of Slidell Memorial Hospital, having previously worked at Lakeland Medical Center in New Orleans and Monroe County Hospital. She attended Presley Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Junior Matheny of Atmore; mother, Zelma Pritchard of Groveport, Ohio; a son, John Vincent Lake of San Jose, Calif.; four daughters, Carol Searcy of Atmore; Lisa Lake of Atmore; Angel Padgett of Perdido; Sabrina 'Brie' Matheny Drew of Flomaton; two brothers, John Pritchard of Canal Winchester, Ohio; and George Pritchard of Coshockton, Ohio; a sister, Beckey Pritchard of Groveport; three grandchildren, Calem Searcy, Holly Searcy and Victoria Drew.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Harp officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Lake, George Pritchard, Michael Drew, Calem Searcy Mike Mauldin and Thomas Righter.

Mrs. Gordain B. Dunsford

Gordain B. Dunsford, 79, died Thursday in Century. A native of Damascus, she was a resident of Century since 1935. She was a mother and homemaker and was Baptist by faith.
She is survived by two sons, James Howard McCurdy Sr.; and Eddie Truman Dunsford; both of Century, three daughters, Linda Elizabeth Roberson of Flomaton; Brenda Faye Scott and Helen June Odom, both of Century; a brother, Barney Brunson of Pensacola; two sisters, Modell Lowery of Century and Virginia McCurdy of East Brewton; 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Earle Greene and Rev. Wallace Reid officiating. Burial will follow at McCurdy Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Dennis Spears, William Odom, Steve Scott, James Spears, Billy Odom Jr. and James Kornegay. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandsons Michael Odom, Denny Spears, Michael Kornegay, Travis Odom, Jason Spears Jr., Bradley Faulk, Joshua Spears and Stephen Scott.

John Herman Hiebert, 46, of Pace died Tuesday in Pensacola. He was an salesman working in electrical and was born in Alma, Mich., Sept. 23, 1956, to Eldon Hiebert and Rita Ludwig Tenney.
He is survived by his father, Eldon Hiebert of Walnut Hill; mother Rita Tenney of Pace; a daughter, Candi Robbins of Spokane, Wash.; two brothers, Vernon Lee Hiebert and Tracey Steve Hiebert, both of Walnut Hill; a sister, Delia Hiebert of Pace; numerous other relatives and friends. Services were held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Walnut Hill Mennonite Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
Grady Jake Wiggins

Grady Jake Wiggins, 87, died Aug. 21 in Fernandina Beach, Fla. A native of Atmore, he was born Jan. 20, 1916 to the late George and Ida Ledkins Wiggins. He was retired from the civil service and preceded in death by wives, Margie Wiggins and Clara Alberta Wiggins and a daughter Jeanette Plowman.
He is survived by two sons, Randy Wiggins and wife Melissa of Fernandina Beach and Ronnie Wiggins of Mobile; two daughters, Glenda Fields of Boaz and Dorothy Turberville of Atmore; grandchildren, Robbie Wiggins, Rhonda Wiggins Peter Wiggins, Scott Plowman, Denise Henson, Staci Rigsby, Lauri Greer, Sheri Payne, John Turberville and Jeana Hughes. He is also survived by a sister, Gladys Strickland of Atmore, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Aug. 24 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Alan Harp officiating. Burial followed in Godwin Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Aug. 23 Johnson-Quimby was in charge of all arrangements.
