Mr. George Dailey, 75, died Sept. 29. A native of Atmore, he had lived in Shelby County for many years.
He was born to the late Frank and Ophelia Dailey on March 19, 1928, one of five children. He was a graduate of Escambia County Training School and received a bachelor's and master's degrees from Alabama State University. He taught in the Shelby County school system and served as principal at Prentice High School and Montevallo High School. He later served as coordinator of secondary education for the Shelby County School System.
He was elected to the Montevallo City Council and the Shelby County Commission.
He is survived by his wife, Jewel ; two daughters, Jennifer Elaine Colley and husband Prince, and Deborah Ann Palmer and husband Randy; five grandchildren Jasmin Petrice, Pamella Elise, Brandon Prince, Derrick Randall and Jason Alexander.
Graveside services were held Thursday at Stallworth Cemetery with Rev. Reginald Holloway, Rev. Floyd Dailey and Rev. Rogers L. White officiating. Pallbearers were Ronnie McCary, Terry McCary, Lance Cottingham, Franklin Bell, Steve Gilbert and Henry Pope. Honorary pallbearers were Shelby County Commissioners, political friends and family members.
Local arrangements were handled by Robinson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Vicie Lou Gregson, 99, of Uriah, died Tuesday. She was a native of Monroeville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, seven children, six brothers and six sisters. She is survived by four daughters, Eloise Lassiter and husband Rubert, and Betty Sims and husband, Horace, all of Booneville; Margaret Gollotte and husband, Stanford, of Mobile and Doris Phillips and husband, Donald, of Uriah; 48 grandchildren, 113 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery.
Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
