I am sure that many of you have noticed as I have, how the morning air bites more and more with each passing day. The leaves are falling a little more and the sun doesn't seem to stay up as long as it did last month. As people, our lives are in a constant state of change. With each passing day we grow a little older and hopefully a little wiser.
As I think back to my childhood growing up in Atmore, I am reminded of the fact that change is constantly happening around us. When you ask yourself what Atmore once had to offer, but since has changed, what comes to mind for you? When I take that trip down Memory Lane I have memories of a time marked with icons. The previous resident of what is now known as Heritage Park was Rachel Patterson Elementary School. Remember when Adams plaza was filled with both TG&Y and Double D supermarket? Who would ever think that on a Friday night "Party Burgers" from Ponderosa wouldn't be available?
Just as every part of our community has changed, your local newspaper has changed as well. The paper has had many different looks as employees at the Advance have changed many times over the last couple of months and years. I have worked with the last three publishers and four editors
at The Atmore Advance. With every change, we continue to strive to bring our readers the paper they deserve. As the newest publisher of The Atmore Advance I hope to help bring a sense of community to our community newspaper. I could have never imagined that one day I might have the chance to lead my hometown's newspaper.
The Atmore Advance is determined that we will again produce one of the best community newspapers in Alabama. We will work hard to cover those stories and issues that are important to you, our readers. A change that is hoped for by The Atmore Advance staff is that we can make your newspaper more accessible to you. We ask that you join with us and help bring "community" back to our community's newspaper.
Just as "Party Burgers" have been replaced with "Whoppers" we must continue to look for and adjust to the changes occurring around us. After all, as long as change is occurring, we are living.
