John McCain Lyons Jr., 83, of Atmore died Wednesday in Atmore. He was a retired mechanic for Jones Chevrolet, born in Sylacauga on Feb. 11, 1920 to the late John McCain and Rosa Carpenter Lyons Sr.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Madge Vinson Lyons and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Atmore.
He is survived by a son, Phillip G. Lyons of Victorville, Calif.; a daughter Rosemary Lyons Folker of Pensacola; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jim and Elizabeth Vinson of Atmore; four grandchildren: Shawn Lyons, Arron Lyons, Sandy A. Folker and Timothy Folker II; two nephews, Tommy Lyons and Keith Vinson; three neices, Virginia Ann Lyons Brown, Lori Vinson Nesmith and Lynn Rabon.
The family will receive friends from noon-1:45 p.m. today at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home and graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. at Oakhill Cemetery with Johnson Quimby in charge of arrangements.

Susie Bell Salter

Susie Bell Salter, 97, of Atmore, died Tuesday at Atmore Nursing Care Center. She was a native of Tunnel Springs and attended school in Monroe County. A longtime resident of Atmore, she was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for more than 60 years, where she served on the Missionary Society and was a member of the choir. She was a homemaker and also worked as a restaurant cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Salter; two daughters, Geraldine Stephens and Ollie Mae Davis; one granddaughter, Stephanie Salter; and one grandson, Eric Stephens. She is survived by one son, Grady Salter, of Fairfield, Calif.; three daughters, Alice Jones, of Wabasso, Fla., Ailene Sams, of Port Chester, N.Y., and Irene Thomas, of Atmore; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1-8:30 p.m. Monday at Turner Funeral Chapel.
Viewing will be at the church one hour before the funeral service.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Freddie Banks officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Jameka VonShay Mosley

Jameka VonShay Mosley, 26, of Pensacola, died Sunday in Cantonment, in an automobile accident. She was a 1994 graduate of Century High School. She was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church in Century and worked in the fast-food industry at Checker's.
She is survived by her mother, Frances Faye Mosley, of Century; her father, Robert Lee Hall Jr., of Atmore; one son, Jayhem Simmons, of Century; four sisters, Temeka Anshay Mosley, Rita Denise Mosley and Cassandra Mosley, all of Century, and SharQument Hall, of Atmore; four brothers, Sam Mosley, Kevin Mosley, Terrence Mosley and Mandrell Hall, all of Century; her stepmother, Mary Hall, of Atmore; and grandparents Georgia Square, of Century, and Carrier Pearl Johnson, of Atmore.
Services were held Saturday at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Century with Rev. Charles McKinney officiating. Burial followed at Pollard Cemetery.

Armanda Alicia Washington

Armanda Alicia Washington, 27, of Century, died Sunday at the West Florida Medical Center from injuries received in an automobile accident in Cantonment. She was a native of Los Angeles, Calif., and lived in Century for many years. A 1994 graduate of Leuizer High School in Los Angeles, she also attended Faulkner State Community College in Bay Minette. She was a member of First Mount Zion Baptist Church in Century and worked as a housekeeper in the hotel industry.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Essie Mae Washington. She is survived by her parents, Leroy Carter and Shirley Ann Washington, both of Los Angeles; two sons, Demetra Lavontae Pope and Damian Davontae McCrary, both of Pace, Fla.; four sisters, Carla Williams, of Pace., Pamela Washington, of Lakewood, Calif., Deborah Carter, of Los Angeles, and Valerie Buck, of Los Angeles; four brothers, William C. Brown, of Oceanside, Calif., Cornell Price, Marvin L. Carter and Demetrius Carter, all of Los Angeles; her stepmother, Mattie J. Carter, of Los Angeles; a loving and devoted aunt, Essie Pearl Washington, of Century; and her grandfather, Willie Bell Carter, of Century.
Services were held Saturday at First Mount Zion Baptist Church in Century, with Pastor Freddie L. Stallworth officiating. Burial followed at Century Cemetery.

Julia Lee Dortch, 76, of Atmore, died Saturday at the Atmore Nursing Care Center. She was a native of Camden and attended school in Wilcox County. She was a homemaker and member of Bethel Baptist Church in Camden.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Dortch; her mother, Martha Freeman-Dortch; and one sister, Frances Hicks-Kelly. She is survived by one son, Theodore Dortch, of Birmingham; and one brother, James Dortch, of Atmore.
Services were held Friday at Fairview Cemetery with Bishop Willie L. Williams, pastor of Jones Street Holiness Church, officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery.

Randy Rodell Mitchell

Randy Rodell Mitchell, 30, of Atmore, died Saturday at the USA Medical Center in Mobile. He attended school at Escambia County High School and worked as an auto mechanic.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sherren D. Mitchell. He is survived by one son, Demontre Mitchell, of Pensacola; one daughter, Rontayshia Mitchell, of Pensacola; parents Larry and Rosie Mitchell, of Atmore; four brothers, Darren Mitchell, of Atmore, Larry Mitchell, Jr. and Arthur Mitchell, both of Pensacola, and Leo Mitchell, of Mobile.
Services were held Friday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Robinsonville, with Rev. Monroe Tucker, Jr. and Rev. Donzell Young, pastor of God's Ministry through Christ Jesus, officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery in Atmore.
