Trinity Episcopal Church will conduct a Holy Eucharist service at 6 p.m. on Dec. 24. The Reverend Sandra Mayer will officiate. (There will be no Christmas Day service.)
Historically, Trinity is considered to be Atmore's oldest building in continuous use. Founded in 1900, the building materials and three lots of land were given in 1900 by Mr. William Marshall Carney as his Easter offering.
Today Trinity's most architecturally distinctive feature is the pair of eight-foot tall trumpeting angels that flank the front entrance. The stained glass windows were designed and executed in 1983 by church parishioner Mrs. John (Emilie) Mims.
The windows are lit from within the church each evening beginning at 7 p.m. At this time of year they are especially poignant and lovely. When you and your family or friends are out looking at Atmore's Christmas lights, don't miss seeing Trinity's angels that herald the birth of the Christ child!
