Lewis Tyrell "Teddy" Stallworth

Mr. Lewis Tyrell "Teddy" Stallworth, 47, died Thursday in Mobile county. He was a native of Atmore and a resident of Mt. Vernon for several years. He was a 1974 graduate of Escambia County High School and attended Faulkner State Community College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1975-1977 and was a self-employed construction worker. He did a lot of building in Atmore, Mt. Vernon and surrounding areas for years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Avila Stallworth-Craig.
He is survived by one son, Lewis Cameron Stallworth of Grand Bay; four sisters, Edith Hayes of Jacksonville, Fla. and Phecedia Craig, Kelly Craig and Sara Craig, all of Shreveport, La.; three brothers, Ellis Stallworth of Atmore and Kurtis Craig and Brent Craig, both of Shreveport, La.
Services were held Saturday at the Gaines Chapel AME Church with Rev. A Timothy Days officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery.

Joyce Brown Tubbs

Mrs. Joyce Brown Tubbs, 64, a resident of Dothan and native of Atmore, died Monday at her home after a lengthy illness caused by cancer. She was born in Wallace on Dec. 3, 1939 to the late Carl H. and Ardie Missey McIntrye Brown, Sr. She was a graduate of Escambia County High School class of 1958 and a graduate of UAB School of Nursing in 1962. She served in the U.S. Air Force, reaching rank of Captain and serving during the Vietnam war stationed at CamRanh Bay Republic of South Vietnam. Her last employment as an RN was Nursing Supervisor, evening shift, at Wireglass Hospital in Geneva.
She is survived by her husband, Robert R. Tubbs of Dothan; one brother, Carl H. Brown, Jr. of Atmore; three sisters, Helen B. Ross, Hazel B. Hall and Nelda Grace Brown, all of Atmore; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Friday from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Doug Newton officiating. Burial followed in Welcome Methodist Church Cemetery in Evergreen with military honors. Active pallbearers were Britt Hendricks, Tommy Qualls, Richard Ross, Ronald Ross and Leroy Cobb.

Emory Clinton "Clint" Turk
Dec. 29, 2003
Mr. Emory Clinton "Clint" Turk, 60, died Monday at a Florida hospital. He was a native and lifetime resident of Flomaton, an avid hunter and fisherman, and a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He attended the Friendship Freewill Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eva Turk, and a brother, Roy Turk.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Turk of Flomaton; three daughters, Tammy McCann of Bratt, Debra Simmons of Panama City and Chasity Pettis of Pineview; three brothers, George Thomas Turk, Jr. of Mobile, Curtis Turk of Flomaton and Bobby Turk of Pennsylvania; his sister, Wilma Turner of Flomaton; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Services were held Thursday at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. James Hughes and Rev. Mike Henderson officiating. Burial followed at Flomaton Cemetery.

Dolphus Stephen Jones

Mr. Dolphus Stephen Jones, 85, of Lottie, died Tuesday at the William F. Green State Veterans Home. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 23 years, born in Lottie on March 6, 1918 to the late Stephen Willis and Cynthia Virginia Langham Jones. He was an Army veteran with one year in Concentration Camp, five years in World War II and one year in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the 69th Infrantry Division, a member of the Lottie Methodist Church and lay pastor of several Methodist churches in the area.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Brown Jones of Lottie; one son, Stephen Terry Jones and wife, Linda, of Atmore; one daughter, Janice Croley and husband, Elbert, of Pensacola; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Doug Newton officiating. Burial followed in Lottie Methodist Cemetery with military honors.

Henry H. Cox

Mr. Henry H. Cox, 87, of Atmore, died Wednesday in Pensacola. He was a retired carpenter, born on Dec. 12, 1916 in Covington county to the late Pink and Eliser Mosley Cox. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Molino, # 210.
He is survived by his wife, Essie H. Cox of Atmore; three sons, James Cox of Knoxville, Tenn., Marvin Cox of Tampa, Fla., and Wade Cox of Atmore; three daughters, Patricia Ann Simmons and Elizabeth Davis, both of Pensacola, and Judy Heintze of Silver Springs, Md.; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were held Saturday from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Brecceda and Rev. Steve Heintze officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
