The Atmore Industrial Board Tuesday agreed to join a Tri-County marketing effort for economic development.
The Tri-County effort began late last year with an effort to develop a new industrial park at I-65 and Alabama Hwy. 41, exit 77.
The Tri-County Industrial Authority plans to develop a regional industrial park promote existing parks in Escambia, Monroe and Conecuh counties as well.
The Industrial Board's motion to join the effort included a stipulation that the $4,000 it was committing to the Tri-County project would be earmarked for marketing and sales efforts, with Atmore's interstate park being included in that effort.
The City of Atmore owns 645 acres at Interstate 65 and Hwy. 21 for retail and industrial development. The site has gas, water and sewer.
The Atmore Industrial Board appointed two of its members, Bob Jones and Michele Gerlach, as its representatives to the Tri-County Industrial Authority.
