Obituaries for March 31, 2004 edition of the Atmore Advance
Doris Adams
Doris Bilbo Adams, 83, died Sunday, March 28, 2004 in Atmore. She was born August 10, 1920 in Moss Point. Ms. Adams had spent most of her life in Moss Pint, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Moss Point, a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Anna O'Neil Chapter #37 in Moss Point. Mrs. Adams had worked as a clerk with Bacot and Frazier Insurance Agency in Pascagoula. Preceding her in death were both of her husbands, Prentiss L. Bilbo and James E. Adams; her parents, Clarence E. and Julia H. Greene; two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by two sons, Dennis and Evelyn R. Bilbo of Atmore, Thomas E. and Jerre K. Bilbo of Saraland; grandchildren, Carol Bilbo Clark of Chattanooga, Tenn., Deborah Bilbo Chastain of Greeley Co., Erika Bilbo and Jonathan Bilbo both of Saraland, David Lanier Bilbo of Norfolk, Va.; great-grandson, Bennett Thomas Clark of Chattanooga; two sisters, Ann Louise Sherman of Escatawpa, Miss. and Marjorie Ogborn of Hurley, Miss.; host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. from Holder-Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Moss Point, Miss. with Rev. Michael Perry officiating. An Easter Star service will take place during the service and friends may visit one hour prior to service. Pallbearers will be Chris Clark, Blayne Chastain, Johnathan Bibo, Larry Greene and Steve Ogborn. Honarary pallbearers will be Herbert Dryden, John Adams, Claude Bilbo, Clyde Oliver and Bobby Davis. The family prefers donations be made to the First Baptist Church, 4807 Main Street, Moss Point, MS 39563.

Gene Cardwell
Mr. Gene Tunney Cardwell, 77, died Sunday, March 28, 2004 at a Pensacola hospital.
Mr. Cardwell was a native of Uriah and a resident for the past 50 years. He was a graduate of J.U. Blacksher High School, a graduate of Troy State University with Master's Degree in education, a letterman and left handed pitcher on the Troy State Baseball team in the late 1940's, a supervisor for the Vanity Fair cutting plant, Pardon and Parole officer for the State of Alabama, and received a second Master's from the Troy State Extension at Faulkner State College.
He is survived by his brother, Glen M. and Lois Cardwell of Uriah; two sisters, Elma C. Nelson of Pensacola and Mildred Cardwel1 Chavers of Pensacola, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services well be held Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Semirah Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2004 from 1:00 p.m. until funeral time at the Eastside Chapel Funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Howard Shell, Charles Woods, Dale Chavers, Joe Cardwell. Keith Cardwell, Ed Rose and Bill Buck.

Louise Hammons
Mrs. Louise Hammons, 70, died Monday, March 29, 2004 in Century. Mrs. Hammons was a native of Speedwell, Tenn. a former resident of Barberville, Ky. and a resident of Century for the past 18 years. She attended Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hobert Hammons; two year old daughter, Jackie Lynn Minton.
She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Mossie Laws of Bratt.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 1, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Tony McCullough officiating. Burial will follow at Crabtree Cemetery in Molino. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2004 between 5 and 8 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Jessie (Jess) Bryant Bruner
Jessie (Jess) Bryant Bruner, 56, of Tuscaloosa died Saturday, March 13, 2004 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Cameron E. Bryant of Atmore.
She is survived by her spouse, Tom Bruner of Tuscaloosa; daughter, Dee Dee and Jeff Boykin of Tuscaloosa; son, Thom and Angie Bruner of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Mary and Glenn Jernigan of Atmore, Francis and Bob Bryan of Benton, La.; brothers, Ed and Lylla Bryant of Winfield, Ron and Ginger Bryant of Prattville, Alvin and Theresa Bryant of Autaugaville; mother, Winnie M. Bryant of Atmore; grandchildren, Isabella Marie Bruner, unborn Jessica Faith Boykin; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services were held Tuesday, March 16 at noon at First Presbyterian Church. Dr. Charles M. Durham and the Rev. Kevin Cauley officiated. Burial followed at First Presbyterian Church Columbarium.

Zachary Payne
Mr. Zachary Vandyke Payne, 15, of Century died Sunday, March 28, 2004 at West Florida Hospital. Services will be announced by the Turner Funeral Chapel.
