Woman goes missing

The Atmore Police Department is asking for your help in locating a missing woman from Atmore. According to Police reports Melba Jeanette Boone went missing sometime on Sunday, March 28, 2004.
Last Sunday, police officer Lieutenant Elliot was dispatched to the police department in reference to a missing woman. At the department he met June Godwin a resident of Little River that said her sister was due to arrive at her home, but never made it. "It is out of character for her not to call if she's not going to come," said Godwin. "In fact she usually calls three to four times a day, however, I have not heard from her at all today."
Godwin said she went to Boone's residence prior to coming to the police department and noticed that both her car was gone and a piece of wood propped against the screen door. "She always props the wood in front of the screen when she leaves," said Godwin.
Godwin spoke with one of Boone's neighbors, Corrina Walker. According to Godwin, Walker said she saw Boone packing her car and that Boone told Walker she was going to Little River to stay with her sister.
Godwin began calling Boone at her residence at 8:30 a.m. until she came to Atmore and received no answer. Godwin also called other family members to see if they had seen her but no one had. Godwin commented, "She was still active and had no known illnesses, such as Alzheimer's."
According to police reports, surrounding Sheriff Departments, State Troopers, and hospitals, but did not have any record of Boone. Both Lieutenant Elliot and Officer Odom, checked the exterior at Boone's residence, but found no trace of foul play.
Melba Jeanette Boone is a 70 year old white female. Boone is approximately 5 and ? feet tall and weighing close to 135 pounds. Her vehicle is a 1995 four door, Ford Taurus, which is silver to light beige in color and has a tag number of 30A964D.
