Cpl. Jason Madison, with Atmore's Fire Department, will soon be near his father.
Madison, who serves with the 3rd Force Reconnaisance in the 4th Marine Division, received his orders to be ready to ship out of Mobile and to eventually head to Iraq.
Madison will be in the same country as his father, Sgt. Harold Madison, who is serving with Atmore's 711th Signal Battalion, Company A.
Jason Madison was scheduled to take the test to become a certified firefighter just before he received his orders, but will have to put the test on hold until he gets back.
Madison says he hopes he is stationed near his father, but he doesn't know where he will be stationed yet.
"Dad said he sees a lot of Marines around, so there's some hope we might get to see each other. He's already spoken to his Captain about it," Cpl. Madison said.
"He's a fine young man, and we're going to miss him while he's gone," said fire chief Gerry MgGhee. The fire department has had two firefighers ship out to Iraq.
